A custom made cajon and stomp box as a single piece. The stomp box has an in-built microphone surrounded by foam. Carpet on the top of the stomp box section muffles the base beat played by stomping on the carpet. There is a further built-in microphone suspended in the middle of the cajon section, picking up the tapping of the cajon and the rustle of the snare. Plugging both the microphones into an effects processor produces some incredible sounds.

As our name suggests, our specialty is designing and making customised cajon drums. Let your imagination run wild!

 

Things to think about:

  • What is the purpose of the cajon? Sounds like an obvious question, but do you want something to play to large audiences, or are you a home musician? Or are you looking for a cajon to double as formal furniture, or do you want a cajon that lives outside on your deck?
  • What dimensions do you want? Consider height, width and depth.
  • What timber (or any other material for that matter) do you want to use? Timber varies widely in price and availability but there are plenty of options.
